The Psalter is Israel’s hymnbook: lament, praise, thanksgiving, royal psalms, and wisdom. It trains the heart to speak to God in trouble and in joy, and it points ahead to the Messiah.

1Pieśń stopni. Błogosławiony wszelki, który się boi Pana, który chodzi drogami jego. 2Bo prace rąk twoich pożywać będziesz; błogosławionym będziesz, i będzieć się dobrze działo. 3Żona twoja będzie jako winna macica płodna po bokach domu twego; dziatki twoje jako latorośle oliwne około stołu twego. 4Oto takci będzie ubłogosławiony mąż, który się boi Pana. 5Niechżeć Pan błogosławi z Syonu, abyś patrzył na dobro Jeruzalemskie po wszystkie dni żywota twego. 6I oglądał synów synów twoich, i pokój nad Izraelem.
