Psalms

The Psalter is Israel’s hymnbook: lament, praise, thanksgiving, royal psalms, and wisdom. It trains the heart to speak to God in trouble and in joy, and it points ahead to the Messiah.

Psalms 126

1Cantique de Mahaloth. Quand l’Eternel ramena les captifs de Sion, nous étions comme ceux qui songent. 2Alors notre bouche fut remplie de joie, et notre langue de chant de triomphe, alors on disait parmi les nations : l’Eternel a fait de grandes choses à ceux-ci ; 3L’Eternel nous a fait de grandes choses ; nous en avons été réjouis. 4Ô Eternel ! ramène nos prisonniers, en sorte qu’ils soient comme les courants des eaux au pays du Midi. 5Ceux qui sèment avec larmes, moissonneront avec chant de triomphe. 6Celui qui porte la semence pour la mettre en terre, ira son chemin en pleurant, mais il reviendra avec chant de triomphe, quand il portera ses gerbes.
