The Psalter is Israel’s hymnbook: lament, praise, thanksgiving, royal psalms, and wisdom. It trains the heart to speak to God in trouble and in joy, and it points ahead to the Messiah.

1L’Eterno regna; egli s’è rivestito di maestà; l’Eterno s’è rivestito, s’è cinto di forza; il mondo quindi è stabile, e non sarà smosso. 2Il tuo trono è saldo ab antico, tu sei ab eterno. 3I fiumi hanno elevato, o Eterno, i fiumi hanno elevato la loro voce; i fiumi elevano il lor fragore. 4Più delle voci delle grandi, delle potenti acque, più dei flutti del mare, l’Eterno è potente ne’ luoghi alti. 5Le tue testimonianze sono perfettamente veraci; la santità s’addice alla tua casa, o Eterno, in perpetuo.
