The Psalter is Israel’s hymnbook: lament, praise, thanksgiving, royal psalms, and wisdom. It trains the heart to speak to God in trouble and in joy, and it points ahead to the Messiah.

1א  אשרי האיש--    אשר לא הלך בעצת רשעים ובדרך חטאים לא עמד    ובמושב לצים לא ישב 2ב  כי אם בתורת יהוה חפצו    ובתורתו יהגה יומם ולילה 3ג  והיה--    כעץ שתול על-פלגי-מים אשר פריו יתן בעתו--ועלהו לא-יבול    וכל אשר-יעשה יצליח 4ד  לא-כן הרשעים    כי אם-כמץ אשר-תדפנו רוח 5ה  על-כן לא-יקמו רשעים--במשפט    וחטאים בעדת צדיקים 6ו  כי-יודע יהוה דרך צדיקים    ודרך רשעים תאבד
